U.S. Marine Corps recruits with Echo Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, execute the three-mile run portion of a physical fitness test at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, Dec. 16, 2024. The PFT is an evaluation that all recruits must pass and sets the standards all Marines must maintain once a year to assess battle readiness as well as physical conditioning. The Marine Corps is a professional, disciplined, and capable force. Honor, courage, and commitment are seen and felt in the shared experiences, hardships and challenges we face together in training, and in combat. These values embody what it is to be a Marine, and they live in the collective soul of our Corps. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Janell B. Alvarez)
