Norfolk Naval Shipyard hosted the commissioning ceremony for USS Miller June 30, 1973. At the reception for the ceremony, Henrietta Miller received the first piece of the massive cake. During the event, LCDR Lynn Blasch presented Assistant Secretary James E. Johnson with a certificate and bronze ship plaque recognizing him as an honorary plank owner.
