U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Mohanad Sagor, an Iraqi immigrant who fled with his family from the chaos of ISIS, poses for a portrait at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, Feb. 1, 2024. After arriving in Utah in December 2015, he started a new life from scratch with his family, earning his U.S. citizenship seven years later. Driven by a desire to serve his adopted country, he joined the Air Force at age 39, overcoming challenges like language barriers and COVID-19 restrictions during training. His journey reflects the ideals of resilience, faith, and hope for a brighter future. Sagor is assigned to the 67th Aerial Port Squadron, 419th Fighter Wing.
