Over 1,300 first responders, service members, veterans and community members join University of Arkansas Army and Air Force ROTC cadets in the largest Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Arkansas, paying tribute to the heroes and victims that sacrificed their lives 23 years ago. Held at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, participants ascend 110 flights of stairs—the same number climbed by firefighters and first responders inside the Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001.
Each step taken in the event is in honor of the 2,977 lives lost and the countless heroes who answered the call to serve. Many carry weighted packs or vests, while others wear full first responder gear, reflective of the struggles necessary during the recovery attempts, proving that even 23 years later, we will never forget.
