The U.S. flag flies at half-staff as members of the 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment "The Old Guard" Caisson Detachment prepare at the Capitol Building in Washington, Jan. 4, for the State Funeral of 39th U.S. President Jimmy Carter. In addition to their duties in military funerals, the Caisson Detachment participates in numerous historic pageants performed by The Old Guard, among these are "Spirit of America," and "Twilight Tattoo."
