    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

    U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Chandler Sneed, an infantry Marine with Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, regulates the rate of fire of the M224A1 60 millimeter mortar system during a live-fire exercise on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 11, 2025. Marine Corps mortarmen assist light armored reconnaissance battalions, infantry squads, platoons, and companies to gain a favorable advantage in the field of combat. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
