A U.S. Marine with Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, descends the rappel tower at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, Jan. 10, 2025. The rappel tower provides opportunities for the new Marines to gain confidence in themselves and their gear and is one of the last training events Marines will conduct while at MCRD San Diego. Most ready when our nation is least ready, we train Marines to defeat the challengers, obstacles, and potential adversaries that hinder our nation’s progress and threaten our peace and security.
