Marines met with Guam residents and helped them send-off members of the Guam National Guard Feb. 28 at the Yigo Gym. The soldiers of the Guam National Guard are preparing for a deployment to Afghanistan. The evening consisted of live music, dancing, and traditional food items prepared by area residents. The Marines are part of Exercise Guahan Shield, which will facilitate multiservice engagements, set conditions for bilateral and multilateral training opportunities, and support rapid response to potential theater crises and contingency operations in the Asia-Pacific region.
