Students from Calvert County public schools participated in an interactive STEM event at Carderock. Carderock's STEM and Outreach Office hosted the group for a day of hands-on learning, including a tour of the David Taylor Model Basin and an engineering challenge that involved designing, building, and testing a tool to deliver a projectile. The students were provided a first-hand opportunity to learn about resources provided by the Department of the Navy and additional career opportunities within the federal government. STEM and Outreach Program Director Charlotte George shared her career journey and emphasized the importance of mentorship, encouraging students to embrace diverse paths to success. Carderock, the Navy's innovation and ship design powerhouse, headquartered in West Bethesda, Maryland, is a world-class research and development facility specializing in critical ship design components. With teams and facilities across the country, from Florida to Alaska and Idaho to Washington, Carderock is "Where the Fleet Begins," building the future of the Navy.
