NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (Jan. 30, 2025) A Sailor assigned to the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Lake Erie (CG 70), hugs a loved one after completing a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 3rd and 7th Fleet areas of operations. While deployed to U.S. 7th Fleet, Lake Erie conducted operations across multiple warfare areas, deterring aggression, promoting regional stability and security, and protecting free flow of commerce. As an integral part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 3rd Fleet operates naval forces in the Indo-Pacific in addition to providing realistic and relevant training necessary to flawlessly execute our Navy's timeless roles of sea control and power projection. U.S. 3rd Fleet works in close coordination with other numbered fleets to provide commanders with capable, ready forces to deploy forward and win in day-to-day competition, in crisis, and in conflict.
