HIMARS are designed to launch the entire Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) family of munitions and provide a reliable and precise long-range fire capability for combat operations. HIMARS have a proven range of up to 186 miles (300 km) with a variety of advancement that can extend beyond 310 miles (499 km).
