New ammunition for the XM250 weapon is on display during a guided tour as part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the new 6.8mm ammunition plant, Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2025, in Independence, Mo. The new facility will produce 6.8mm ammunition, which enhances soldier lethality and accuracy, bolstering the Army's modernization priorities, and supporting the local economy. Ninety percent of the work will go to Kansas City-area industries, creating jobs and driving growth.
