Randy Buckley, an epidemiologist with Forward Deployable Preventive Medicine Unit Two (FDPMU-2), fires his Sig Sauer M18 pistol during the handgun qualification portion of the Weapons and Threat Recognition Training Course in Suffolk, Virginia. FDPMUs are expeditionary units specializing in force health protection and hazard identification in deployed environments. The U.S. Navy recently adopted the M18 as the standard service pistol, replacing the Beretta M9. This training ensures Sailors are proficient and confident in their weapon-handling skills.
