A clamshell dredge onboard the DV Avalon places dredge material on a nearby scow, February 19, 2025, as crews conduct annual maintenance dredging of the Baltimore Harbor and channels project. The project consists of dredging approximately 2.3 million cubic yards of material from federal navigation channels in Maryland associated with the Baltimore Harbor, ensuring continued safe navigation for vessels traveling in and out of the Port of Baltimore. The DV Avalon, one of the largest bucket dredge vessels in North America, utilizes an innovative, hybrid-powered system. (U.S. Army photo by Thomas I. Deaton)
