    U.S. Service Members, veterans, and guests unveil a plaque dedicated to Gunnery Sgt. John Basilone on the 80th anniversary of his death at the Mount Soledad Memorial Park, San Diego, California, Feb. 19, 2025. Basilone was the first enlisted Marine to receive the Medal of Honor during World War II for his actions at the Battle of Guadalcanal and died on the first day of the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945.
