Bambi Bucket teams from the 77th Combat Aviation Brigade assisted local firefighters on the ground at Camp Joseph T. Robinson, Feb. 28, 2025, dropping more than 33,600 gallons of water in five hours to help contain the fire. Crews from the Arkansas Forestry Commission, Pulaski County Office of Emergency Management, along with firefighters from the North Little Rock, Sherwood, Oak Grove, and Runyan Acres fire departments coordinated with the two UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters to douse the flames of the larger fire while crews from the Camp Robinson Fire Department contained the smaller fires that were smoldering deeper inside the training area. Once under control, bulldozers were brought in to clear vegetation and create fire breaks to contain and prevent future fires as training continued throughout the weekend.
Fires during training events are a predictable occurrences anytime of the year in Arkansas. Camp Robinson's Range Control monitors the fire conditions on post and is ready to alert a network of first responders through the Camp Robinson Fire Department, the base environmental office, and surrounding local fire departments as a precaution to ensure public safety for areas neighboring the post.
