The Norwegian Foot march is a military tradition started in 1915, sponsored by the Norwegian Defense Ministry to show new military members field experience; any foreign military members who complete the 18.6 mile ruck march with 24 pounds on their back, within a time limit that varies based on age and gender, earns the Norwegian Foot March pin.
