NORFOLK, Va. (March 6, 2024) Logistic Specialist 2nd Class Vanessa Abney assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5) prepares to take the Petty Officer First Class Navy Wide Advancement Exam in the barge mess decks, March 6. The exam evaluates a Sailor’s knowledge, skills and job performance within their rating and allows them to qualify for a promotion toward the next paygrade. Bataan is currently undergoing repairs while dry docked in the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) shipyard.
