U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Grace Guadagnolo, a meteorology and oceanography analyst forecaster with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, assembles an advanced micro weather sensor during realistic urban training on Fort Barfoot, Virginia, March 9, 2025. Meteorology and oceanography analyst forecasters are responsible for employing various equipment, sensors, and information technology systems to study the atmosphere to collect and analyze data. The information gathered directly informs military operations at all levels from flight operations to small-unit tactical training.

"We are here to provide the most accurate, timely, and consistent meteorological and oceanographic data that we can, whether it's local or in a forward deployed environment." Said Sgt. Guadagnolo "Maintaining constant situational awareness of the atmosphere and analysis of potential impacts greatly reduces risk for the Commander and down to the lowest level. Additionally, our analysis increases safety of operations and training across all domains (Space, Air, Land, and Sea)."

RUT is a land-based training exercise which enables the 22nd MEU to conduct expeditionary operations as a cohesive Marine Air-Ground Task Force, in preparation to integrate with U.S. Navy for future operations. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Tanner Bernat)
