NEWPORT, R.I.— U.S. Navy Chief of Legislative Affairs Rear Adm. Marc Miguez delivers a lecture to students, staff and faculty at the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) onboard Naval Station Newport, March 19, 2025. The lecture detailed the challenges Miguez faced as commander of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 2 during a historic 2023-2024 deployment in which the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) engaged in aerial and maritime surface combat with Houthi forces in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, and how the Department of the Navy has learned from the combat experience to inform future warfighting capabilities and doctrine. Established in 1884, NWC informs today’s decision-makers and educates tomorrow’s leaders by providing educational experiences and learning opportunities that develop their ability to anticipate and prepare strategically for the future, strengthen the foundations of peace, and create a decisive warfighting advantage.
