A Southern Fox Squirrel forages for food on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C., Mar 18, 2025. Fox squirrels are less common now due to habitat loss in many places, and to address the declining population of Southern fox squirrels on Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.
