ATLANTIC OCEAN (March 23, 2025) A landing craft air cushion, assigned to Assault Craft Unit 4, prepares to depart the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7) during amphibious operations while underway. Iwo Jima is conducting exercises as part of its advanced phase training at sea, the exercises are designed to enhance warfighting effectiveness and interoperability. Iwo Jima is the flagship of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group which is uniquely positioned to deter aggression, project power through presence abroad, and execute contingency mission with its integrated Marine Corps team in support of U.S. strategic interests.
