This drawing illustrates an expandable airway tube invented by Dr. Corinne Nawn and Dr. Brian Souhan that uses light to identify tracheal and esophageal tissue to ensure proper placement in a trachea. The Medical Research and Development Command’s Office of Medical Technology Transfer is working with Nawn and Souhan to develop and de-risk the device for licensing by small businesses operating in the medical device space.
