Master at Arms 1st Class Mellody Parungo, assigned to Naval Base Point Loma, goes before a panel for the Sailor of the Year (SOY) board, March 18, 2025. The Sailors were all selected as their installation's Sailor of the Year and were in San Diego to compete for the title of Navy Region Southwest SOY. The Sailor selected as the Navy Region Southwest SOY will compete against the other regional SOYs to become Commander, Navy Installation Command's SOY and earn a meritorious promotion to Chief Petty Officer.
