On Monday, the Army’s Natural Resource Team planted 100 endangered Cyanea superba plants into native habitat in the Waianae Mountains. These outplants help bolster the total wild population of Cyanea superba, spreading them out in the event of a wildfire. When they mature, Cyanea superba has glorious white decurved flowers that would be pollinated by native Hawaiian honeycreepers which have long curved bills.
