Maj. Gen. Jason Kelly, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers deputy commanding general for Civil and Emergency Operations, joined fellow USACE leaders from both the Southern California Wildfires Recovery Field Office and the Los Angeles District, March 31during a Board of Supervisors County of Los Angeles, Eaton Fire Legislative Visit that was held at the Altadena Community Center, Altadena, California.
Kelly, Col. Eric Swenson, Recovery Field Office commander, and Lt. Col. Stephen Brooks, Los Angeles District deputy commander, provided and overview of USACE’s response, recovery, and continued support, to the group of state and county officials attending the briefing. Immediately, after the briefing, the group toured the Altadena Wildfire disaster impact zone where they were provided additional in-depth information from each of the responding agency’s leadership during the fire.
USACE brings unique capabilities to emergency responses, but we are just one piece of a much larger federal team working to support our state and local partners. The Corps of Engineers is focused specifically on Phase 2 debris removal under FEMA’s direction. (USACE photo by Brooks O. Hubbard IV)
