250402-N-ML137-2071 MANGILAO, Guam (April 2, 2025) U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Greg Huffman, commander, Joint Task Force - Micronesia, and his staff are shown historical artifacts, like slingstones, from Mark Mendiola, interim chief of staff of the University of Guam and director of Residence Hall facilities, and Vinessa Duenas, a curation specialist with UOG, at UOG’s Cultural Repository building, April 2. Slingstones were part of traditional CHamoru weapons that were swung in a sling at high speeds with deadly accuracy during wartime and were made of various materials like stone, coral, volcanic rock, clay and limestone from Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands.
