Shonsha Stroud, mechanical engineer with Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, reads science fair entries for the chemistry category at the Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE) Conference and Educational Services Center in Camarillo, California, on March 19. Jennifer Gorin, VCOE student competitions coordinator, said she was thrilled with the turnout. “We were excited to have 654 students participate with nearly 500 projects at the Ventura County Science Fair,” Gorin said. “It’s inspiring to see so many students excited about science and see all the hard work they’ve put into their projects.” The science fair is open to students in grades six to 12.
