Coughlin is the recipient of the 2024 Air Force Medical Service Annual Awards - USAF Nursing Educator of the Year. "My nursing journey in the Air Force has taken me on a path I could never have imagined,” Coughlin reflected on her service, “It has proven to be far more adventurous and rewarding than I could have ever planned. Going from a bedside nurse, to Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT) nurse, to cadre in a very high-visibility training platform is truly rewarding. I am inspired, challenged and humbled by every student as I serve in the role of educator."

USAFSAM’s embedded role within AFRL and its unique synergy with the 711th Human Performance Wing enables the organization’s mission to promote ready Airmen, Guardians and medics in all environments through research, education and consultation.
