YIGO, Guam (April 5, 2025) – U.S. Army Col. Alejandro Buniag, chief of staff, Joint Task Force-Micronesia, U.S. Navy Capt. Michael Smith, chief of staff, Joint Region Marianas, and Master Chief William Webster, JRM command master chief, joined Gov. Lourdes Leon Guerrero, Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio, and Consul General of Japan on Guam Ueda Susumu for the 14th Peace Memorial Ceremony at the South Pacific Peace Memorial Park, April 5.
During the ceremony, leaders laid wreaths in honor of lives lost, observed a Buddhist ceremony held by Kawasakidaishi Chief Abbot Ryujo Fujita, and reflected on the important alliance forged in peace between the U.S. and Japan and the friendship built between the people of Guam and Japan following the events of World War II.
