A local Vietnamese worker moves buckets around the wet-screen station during recovery operations in Vietnam, April 9, 2025. The recovery team excavated units in an active body of water, on a steep incline, and in erratic weather conditions during this iteration; several methods and unique pieces of equipment were used to mitigate delay in operations and safety concerns whilst working.. Both the organic DPAA team members and the short term individual augments, combined their knowledge and skills to propel progress in achieving the fullest possible accounting during the 50-day recovery mission. There are currently 1,573 missing U.S. personnel from the Vietnam War. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Morgan L. R. Burgess)
