SOUTH CHINA SEA (April 9th, 2024) - Gas Turbine Technician (Mechanical) 1st Class Austin Holbert, from Fresno, California, stands watch as a Readiness Control Officer in the Integrated Combat Center aboard the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Savannah (LCS 28) as she conducts routine operations while underway in the South China Sea. Savannah part of Command, Destroyer Squadron 7, is on a rotational deployment operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with Allies and partners and serve as a ready-response force in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
