A Paratrooper from the 173rd Airborne Brigade pilots a drone as target during the Operation Shield 25, on April 11, 2025 in Kamenjak near Medulin , Pula, Croatia. This annual Croatian air defense exercise focuses on enhancing the execution of air defense tasks against low and medium-altitude targets. Joined by 173rd Airborne Brigade, and allied forces from the Slovenian Army, French Armed Forces, and British Army participants jointly train on air defense tactics, techniques, and procedures, including air-space control and live fire engagements. The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
