U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground workers remove the M1 240mm howitzer that has stood sentinel since 1963 at the corner of Highway 95 and Imperial Dam Road on April 14, 2025. The iconic 'Big Gun' was temporarily removed to facilitate construction of a new intersection as part of continuing Highway 95 lane expansion efforts. The howitzer is expected to return to prominent display after road construction is completed sometime in the summer of 2026.
