SASEBO, Japan (April 11, 2025) Hospital Corpsman 1st Class Malia Webster from Suffolk, Virginia, assigned to the amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47), is awarded USS Rushmore (LSD 47) Sailor of the Year, during a ceremony at Commander Fleet Activities Sasebo, April 11. The Navy’s Sailor of the Year program recognizes outstanding Sailors who best represent the ideals of the professional Sailor and the Navy. Rushmore, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
