On April 14, 2025, the Marine Band, led by Drum Major Master Gunnery Sgt. Duane King, supported the funeral of Brig. Gen. Gerald L. Miller, USMC (ret.), at Arlington National Cemetery.
Brig. Gen. Miller was born in Appleton, Wisc., on September 9, 1942. Brig. Gen. Miller graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and Marquette University Law School with a juris doctor degree. Afterwards, he was selected for Officer Candidate School and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps in 1964. In 1990, he was promoted to Brigadier General and served as the senior lawyer for the Marine Corps until his retirement.
