Retired U.S. Navy Capt. David J. Carey (left) is showered with champagne by friends, family and members of the 560th Flying Training Squadron following his Freedom Flight at Joint Base San Antonio-Randolph, Texas, April 10, 2025. The Freedom Flyer program honors former Vietnam War aviator POWs with a symbolic return to flight in a T-38 Talon. In keeping with the program tradition, returning aviators are greeted on the flightline with a celebratory champagne spray.
