Liuetenant Governor of Massachusetts Kim Driscoll delivers a speech during the 388th anniversary of the First Muster of troops on Salem Common, April 12, 2025, in Salem, Mass.
Salem Muster commemorates the town of Salem as the birthplace of the National Guard and celebrates the first muster of the earliest militias in 1637.
Senior Master Sgt. Sandra Krider, 104th Fighter Wing Inspector General superintendent, expressed the joy and honor felt in participating in the event, despite the cold weather and rainy conditions.
“This was my first time participating in Salem Muster, and it was a truly enriching experience,” said Krider. “I gained a deeper appreciation for the history and traditions of the Massachusetts National Guard, and the howitzer salute was an unforgettable highlight. It was an honor to be a part of such a meaningful event that connects our past with our present.”
