Gunnery Sgt. Andrew J. Hodges, foreign area staff non-commissioned officer, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), discusses combat operations center procedures with members of the Royal Saudi Naval Force during Exercise Red Reef, Jan. 6. Red Reef is a bilateral amphibious exercise between the 15th MEU and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that focuses on expanding levels of cooperation, enhancing mutual maritime capabilities, as well as promoting long-term regional stability and interoperability between U.S. forces and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The 15th MEU is deployed as part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
