Paratroopers assigned to 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade conducted a mortar live-fire range utilizing Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) paired with observers to call for and adjust fire. The fire mission—executed from sensor to shooter—leveraged a fully digital fires kill chain, transmitting targeting data directly from the observer’s End User Device (EUD) through the kill-chain and ultimately to the mortar team’s EUD. This exercise showcased the integration of UAS-based reconnaissance with precision fires through seamless digital communication systems, enhancing responsiveness and accuracy on the modern battlefield, April 11th, 2025 Grafenwohr, Germany)
