    California Army National Guard's State Honor Guard carry U.S. Army Maj. James O’ Donovan during his funeral service at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, April 15, 2025. O’Donovan, a World War II veteran, Bataan Death March survivor, and member of the 3rd Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment who later died as a prisoner of war at Cabanatuan POW camp in the Philippines on Oct. 18, 1942, was finally laid to rest with full honors by the California Army National Guard Honor Guard at Miramar National Cemetery after his remains were recovered from a local cemetery near the Cabanatuan camp and identified through DNA testing that began in 2019.
