All that remains of the 1st Platoon, Company F, 145th Infantry after a 25-day fight on Mount Pacawagan in April-May 1945. On the edge of exhaustion, this photo was taken right after the regiment was taken off the line. A Company F veteran stated that their uniforms were thrown in a large pit and set on fire due to their unsalvageable condition. (Photo from the scrapbook of Staff Sgt.
