Maureen Andrade, niece to U.S. Army Air Corps Pfc. Riego “Tommy” Miguel, cleans his gravesite during a visit to Marine Corps Base Hawaii (MCBH), April 20, 2025. Miguel, a Hawaii native, was a crew member with the 7th Emergency Rescue Squadron. On August 8, 1946, Miguel and his crewmates perished during a training accident off the coast of the Mokapu Peninsula, where the remains of himself and his crew were never recovered. Members of Miguel’s family visit his gravesite, located on MCBH, every year to honor his memory. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Staff Sgt. Marcos A. Alvarado)
