PEARL HARBOR, Hawaii (April 11, 2025) – Contractor and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance personnel gather for a traditional Hawaiian blessing of the semi-submersible vessel Pisha. The 6,000-ton semi-submersible vessel will be used to transport precast dry dock floor units from Waipio Peninsula to Dry Dock 5 which is currently under construction at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Dry Dock 5 will operationally replace Dry Dock 3, the smallest of the four dry docks at Pearl Harbor, in order to accommodate Virginia-class submarines and other vessels for years to come. PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight" by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Strategically located in the heart of the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East. (U.S. Navy photo by Mike Wilson)
