U.S. Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron 171, Marine Aircraft Group 12, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing refuel an F-35B Lightning II aircraft at a Forward Arming and Refueling Point at Gwangju Air Base, South Korea, during exercise Freedom Flag 25-1, April 23, 2025. FF 25-1 is a joint and bilateral military exercise between U.S. and Republic of Korea air forces that fosters trust, understanding and interoperability between Allied forces through challenging, realistic scenarios. Establishing a FARP enables refueling and rearming capabilities, which extends operational range and allows for rapid turnaround and sustained operations in austere environments.
