The Bell Helicopter Military Business Development Team presented a pipe tomahawk plaque to the 1st Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, at the brigade headquarters, March 28. Mike Simmons, far left, Mike Miller, right, and Terry Reeves, far right, traveled to Fort Bragg to recognize the unit, lead by Lt. Col. Richard Zampelli, center right, and Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Hauke, center left. Bell, who manufactures the OH-58 D Kiowa Warrior helicopters flown by 1-17 CAV’s scout pilots awarded the company’s pipe tomahawk pins and plaque to the Saber squadron in recognition of individual and overall unit combat-flying hours. During the past 10 years, 1-17 CAV has deployed five times and flown more than 115,000 hours in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
