U.S. Marines with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit prepare to conduct a wide area search with an Orca sensor system during program Nimble Elder, on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, April 23, 2025. The Orca is a modular, wide area search system designed for use on any vehicle of opportunity, the system has gamma and neutron detection capability and is operated with a phone or tablet running the Android Tactical Awareness Kit. The Nimble Elder program provides the 22nd MEU with organic, scalable counter-weapons of mass destruction capabilities. This specialized training equips them to respond to such threats, enabling rapid deployment and adaptability in support of Geographic Combatant Commanders' security cooperation efforts and crisis response.
