Retired U.S. Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer 4 Bill Thomas looks at old photos of the passenger terminal where he returned with honor after spending 11 months as a POW in Vietnam. Thomas attended a ceremony marking the 40th anniversary of Operation Homecoming, April 4, 2013, at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. In 1973, the last Vietnam conflict prisoner of war landed at what was then Hickam Air Force Base. Thomas was captured May 19, 1972, when during a combat mission over South Vietnam, his aircraft was shot down a few miles from Quang Tri City, South Vietnam. Thomas spent 11 months in captivity before he was released March 28, 1973. (Department of Defense photo by U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Michael R. Holzworth/Released)
