Naval ROTC midshipmen from North Carolina State University stand on the simulated bridge of the Mariner Skills Simulator and navigate an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer past Submarine Base Point Loma, Calif., left, and into San Diego Harbor while trying to steer clear of an outbound aircraft carrier. The simulator, with a 180-degree screen that can show different harbors around the world, is part of the university's new Hunt Library that was dedicated here, April 3. The North Carolina State University Naval ROTC unit will learn navigation and ship handling by actually performing maneuvers using the state-of-the-art simulator.
