Sgt. Adam K. Smith completes a night hike during the culminating event of his Marine Corps Martial Arts Instructor course at Naval Air Station/Joint Reserve Base New Orleans, Sept. 14, 2011. Smith, the repairable issue point chief for Marine Forces Reserve G4 (logistics and services), was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal after he was selected as the MARFORRES 2012 Marine of the Year (active component).
